Excellent, but as would be expected, dated

This is an excellent medical encyclopedia. Entries are concise and accurate. My guess is that for the great majority of items the definitions, descriptions and explanations are still valid. But there are also entries where updating is required. And of course much has happened in the medical world in the past decades which require inclusion. For me the value and enjoyment of such a work is in simply looking up a subject I happen to at the moment take interest in.

His exposition of the science of Sant Mat is based on his personal knowledge and inner experience. In order to reveal the universal character of this science, the concepts and principles elucidated in the book are supported by quotations from writings of mystics from different countries and backgrounds.

Philosophy of the Masters, written in simple but forceful language, has been very popular. The original has been translated into several of the main Indian languages. Fantastic Book

"The Final Shofar" is the best Biblical history of the world ever written. From Genesis to Revelation it gives you an exciting word picture of what El (Hebrew for God) is doing in history or His story. From beginning to end, El is all about family and a covenant relationship with His people. When man sinned in the Garden that treasured relationship was broken. Scripture details the lengths El went to restore that relationship. We also see all throughout Scripture how vehemently El hates idol worship or us giving our affection to any other god (el) but him.

El sees time as circular. Days, weeks, months and years all have a cycle. They involve the earth's cycle around the sun, the cycles of day and night and the seasons. Someday, very soon, the present cycle will have been completed and believers are going to live in the New Jerusalem with their Messiah for a thousand years. When the thousand years are finished and sin is totally removed from this planet, believers will make their homes in the renewed garden city (Renewed Jerusalem). As it was in the beginning, so shall it ever be, world without end.

In order to understand El's prophetic road map, we need to understand these cycles. Every seven years the Israelites were to let the land rest. Ever fiftieth year was a Jubilee year, in which the land not only rested, but any land sold to a fellow Israelite during the previous fifty years was to be returned to its original owner. Do you see the connection with Messiah's return?

All of El's set apart Feasts are based on the seasons and the foods harvested in those seasons. The Feasts are a blueprint of what El is doing in history. The story's of the great Old Testament or more accurately Original Covenant men and women all contain examples of how El operates in history and are most often a type of an event that will see its fulfillment in a similar manner later in history. There are numerous examples of this, which the book details. One example is Abraham's obedience in offering his only son Isaac up for sacrifice, which was later fulfilled in Messiah's death.

El has renewed His Covenant with man numerous times, beginning with Noah and the rainbow placed in sky, promising He would never flood the earth again. Every renewal of the Covenant involved the shedding of blood and pointed to the blood Messiah shed once for all of mankind's sin. So the New Testament isn't a New but rather a Renewed Covenant. I highly recommend this book.

I’ve read a couple of Walk in the Light series and have really enjoyed them and have learned so much. The reason why I have given this series a 4 star is because Mr. Bennett subscribes to two very controversial subjects within Christianity and or the Hebrew Roots movement. 1st is that he believes in the gap theory which suggests that there was a gap between verses one and two of Genesis explaining among other things the age of the earth. 2nd Mr. Bennett believes in the serpent seed doctrine which puts forward the theory that Eve mated with the serpent in the garden which means that Cain came from the serpent seed. Again these are two very divisive beliefs for believers with good people on both sides of the camp. I am no theologian or Hebrew bible scholar just a blue –collar worker who loves YHWH and loves reading and studying His Word. For me the Word is clear that these two theories don’t line up with the plain teaching of scripture, but I may be incorrect. One other point which has added to my confusion is over the meaning of the word Nephilim which I have always been taught to mean the offspring of the Sons of Elohim and the daughters of man and not the Sons of Elohim themselves. Mr. Bennett does state on page 56 that there is confusion as to what the offspring were actually called but it’s confusing none the less when you have been used to understanding it a different way for some time. These points aside I have recommended this and the other entire Walk in the Light books to others for their information and understanding of YHWH’s Word.

Most interesting papers on Jacob 5 - great background and analysis

This is a big and very interesting book on a very specific parable in the Book of Mormon contained in the book of Jacob chapter 5. Jacob is teaching his people their place in history of God's plan for his chosen people. Here he quotes the prophet Zenos, a book contained on the plates of Brass, but currently lost from the Bible. Jacob is calling his people to righteousness in the surrounding chapters and assuring them that God has not forgotten them and will at some point graft them back into the House of Israel.

So, why such a big book over a one chapter parable? This book contains twenty-one chapters grouped into five parts. Part 1 contains five papers discussing aspects of the meaning of Zeno's Allegory of the Olive Tree including an a review of what the early 19th century saints said about this allegory. Part 2 provides four papers on textual analysis including chapters 4 & 6 and textual variants. Part 3 has three papers providing insights into what the olive mean in the Greco-Roman world, and in the writings of the ancient near east and the Old Testament. Part 4 has seven papers reviewing early Jewish and Christian texts and their symbolic use of the olive. One very interesting paper by David Seely and John Welch discusses some Old Testament texts that may have been borrowing from Zenos. Part 5 provides some background on the botany and horticulture of olives. It is interesting to note that the parable gets the caring of olive trees just right and even has a picture of an old olive tree with exactly the kind of grafting described in the parable. The other paper shows that calling the olive orchard a vineyard is consistent with ancient linguistic usage.

This book will enrich your understanding of this beautiful and important chapter in the Book of Mormon. Believers will find their testimony strengthened and enjoy how the material here will enrich their enjoyment of the scripture.

Although this work, which includes many assembled essays regarding the allegory of the olive tree which appears in Jacob 5 in the Book of Mormon, will certainly be of greater interest to Latter-day Saints, the work is of considerable scholarly importance and should be heeded by any who are interested in Judaism or Christianity and their ancient roots.
This is long and extremely complex, yet easily understood allegory and would be difficult for any to compose of oneself, especially were one to know nothing of olive husbandry, its importance in the ancient world and its potential for allegorical application. It is an amazing allegory, especially if it were composed by an young and somewhat ignorant farmer, who although he might know something of temperate fruit farming, would know nothing of olives, and while staring into a hat in the dark at a stone at that. This book helps one to understand both the symbolism of the allegory and the nature of olive husbandry anciently and now. As such it is an invaluable reference work putting this little gem into its proper place in the canon. Sacred to Latter-day Saints it should also be of interest to any who are interested in the works of antiquity.
I doubt that Joseph Smith could possibly have composed this of himself, even were he to have Paul and Isaiah and their somewhat limited reference to olives, Israel and trees right in front of him. It can stand as evidence that the Book of Mormon really is an ancient work while also validating ancient scripture.
This work assembled by Stephen Ricks helps one to understand its real importance. I have enjoyed it now twice, once in print and once on my iPhone. I highly recommend it.

I am not a Mormon but believe the Book of Mormon is God's Word that came through a people in this land. It is in agreement with the Bible. I got this book because I love the Allegory of the vineyard that is in the Book of Jacob in the Book of Mormon. It is very prophetic. This book is a collection of many LDS discussions on the allegory. It has a lot of things that are LDS in it which I just push aside. But there is a lot of good in it also.

I Will Try records his early life and the details of this epic journey. Originally published in 1965, while Legson was studying at the University of Washington, it became a best-seller in the United States (16 weeks on the New York best-seller list), and was translated into numerous other languages.
Legson later went on to study history at Cambridge University in England and wrote four novels.
This volume contains the original text as well as a memoir by Legson’s widow, Julie Kayira, written after his sudden death in England in October 2012. The foreword is written by South African media expert Phil Molefe.

Anyone who reads this amazing autobiography of a young impoverished man from the African country of Malawi who had a dream of going to America and getting a college education will be awestruck by his courage and determination. I have worked in Malawi and know how authentic his story and descriptions are--I am humbled to know he lives and has his being on the same planet as me.

Kristin A. Riekert, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University, USA and Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins Adherence Research Center (JHARC). Dr. Riekert is Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several NIH and foundation-sponsored intervention trials focused on improving adherence and health outcomes in cystic fibrosis, asthma, chronic kidney disease, sickle cell disease and secondhand smoke reduction. She is co-editor of the third edition of The Handbook of Health Behavior Change. Judith K. Ockene, PhD, MEd, M, is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA. She holds the Barbara Helen Smith Chair in Preventive and Behavioral Medicine and is Associate Vice Provost for Gender and Equity. Dr. Ockene is the recipient of numerous NIH grants funding research in the prevention of illness and disability and the promotion of health and quality of life for individuals and communities. Much of her work has focused on the risk behaviours of tobacco, alcohol, and diet. She teaches medical, graduate, public health students and clinicians how to help patients make lifestyle changes. She is Director of the Center for Tobacco Treatment Research and Training (CTTRT) and of the UMMS Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training and Certification Program.
