About the Author
Benjamin Goold has been Lecturer in Law at both Corpus Christi College and New College, Oxford. From 2001-2002, he was Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Law and Police Science, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York, and has since spent a year as Associate Professor of Anglo-American Law at Niigata University, Japan. He is currently University Lecturer in Law and Fellow of Somerville College, Oxford.

This book is a great introduction to the debate around the use and effectiveness of CCTV. It presents reasoned views based on emprical evidence that challenge some of the assumptions about CCTV use in the United Kingdom. It is well-written, accessible for both experts and lay reader alike. Its assessment of the evidence is balanced and backed up by a strong understanding of the scholarship around this area of inquiry. Highly recommended for academics and as a great read for anyone interested in why those cameras are watching them.
